About Sylvia Rae King...

In short, I’m a writer, mentor, and storyteller.  I live in a rural community in central Illinois with my husband, one dog, two barn cats, and four horses.

I’ve been writing fiction since I was a kid, but only recently have I been able to make a plan and finish a first draft.  Completing that second draft continues to be a challenge!

I have worked in television for the past 11 years, using the visual medium to tell the stories of central Illinois.  I spent the first several years of my career as a part of the production team running cameras, audio, graphics, and directing live and recorded productions.  Most recently, I led the production and lifestyle teams, coaching them in visual presentation and teamwork.  Being a director and manager has helped me to organize my time, meet deadlines, and find my voice.

Storytelling can take a lot of forms, from video to spoken word to visual demonstrations.  The latter two, I’ve had many opportunities to practice as a staff member of a Christian horse camp over the past 20 years.  There is nothing I enjoy more than teaching Biblical truths through horsemanship.
